3rd Annual Fox Chase results are in!
The day started out with clear, sunny skies and a very cold wind. As the morning progressed, clouds rolled in and the temperature rose slightly while a light snow fell. The thaw of the previous week had made some of us a bit anxious for the course conditions, but our expert groomer, Jerry Gensch, did a fine job of making the trails race-ready despite the sparse snowfall we’ve had this month. Bob Boucher, the Executive Director of CLCF, brought in his airstream trailer to serve as a warming hut, and Doug Sturgeon, our official race timer, donated the use of his generator to power the operation from coffeepot to computer. Bob Bodensteiner was out early on the trails, making sure they were well marked for the course he designed. Russ Sobotta served as our ski patrol and safety squad. When Mary Washburne arrived with cinnamon buns, peach cobbler, egg casserole, pheasant chili, coffee and hot chocolate, we knew we were all in for a really good time!
Three skiers took off on the Classic Course at 10:00. The top 2 finishers were also in the top 3 of the Skate Race that started at 11:00. Congratulations to Aaron Holtebeck and Lindsey Kriete for being the outstanding placers in both races! Congratulations to Joe Miller for taking 2nd place in the Skate (and to his dad for placing 6th)! We had 3 husband and wife teams sign up this year as well – we’re very happy that skiing with CLCF is a family affair! For complete race results and times, click here.
