There are a limited number of ways to make an impact that lasts beyond a lifetime. Protecting land is one of those ways.

Since 1974 the Cedar Lakes Conservation Foundation has promoted the preservation and protection of native habitat in the Cedar Lakes watershed.
Your support is a reflection of your commitment to this beautiful region and our ongoing work to ensure that it’s here for future generations. Since our founding we have:
- Protected more than 2,400 acres of land;
- Planted more than 100,000 trees and restored 30+ acres of prairie; and
- Opened up more than 10 miles of hiking and groomed Nordic trails, including a partnership with the Ice Age Trail Alliance.
Help us continue preserving and protecting this beautiful place for generations to come. Make a donation today!
contribute to the founder’s fund
Help us build an endowment fund! Our goal is $1,000,000 by 2018, with the interest generated on the investment capital used to support our day-to-day office operations. We’re 20% of the way there. Help us reach our goal — 2018 will be here before we know it! Make a contribution today!
many ways to give
Gifts of cash are the most common form of gift to CLCF. A cash gift is easy and is not subject to estate taxation. Contributions postmarked by December 31st are deductible for that tax year even if received by CLCF in January.
Cash gifts made by credit card can be made securely by clicking this link.
Gifts of Appreciated Securities
Gifts of appreciated stocks are another popular form of gift to CLCF. Often creating a win-win situation, the donor has the opportunity to avoid potential capital gains and receive a charitable deduction for the fair market value of the securities. Please contact us for more information.
Remembering a friend or loved one who has died by making a donation in their name is a wonderful tribute to their memory.
Securing the Future
Not everyone can be a major donor during their lifetime. Most of us need our current assets to provide for ourselves and our families. At our death however, most of us can provide major support to CLCF in a number of ways. If the mission of CLCF is something you would like to support after your death, allow us to show you several different options.
Planned giving allows you to give through a variety of means, including giving through your will, giving through life insurance and giving real estate.
The requirements for giving real estate are essentially the same as for gifts of securities. Almost any type of real estate may be donated; undeveloped land, farms, rental and commercial property, vacation homes and your personal residence.
Retained Life Interest
A unique method of obtaining a tax deduction and retaining use of the property is to transfer title of your home to CLCF and retain an interest for lifetime use by you and/or your spouse. There is a current tax deduction based on the amount of time you will continue to maintain residency. Once you have physically left the residence, the property Is available to CLCF. Maintenance, taxes and insurance are the responsibility of the donor during the donor’s residency.
